How to setup VPN port forwarding on Asus routers

Step 1

Login to your Asus router (http://router.asus.com/). Proceed to Advanced Settings and then click WAN.


Step 2

Enter the following settings:

WAN Connection Type: L2TP

Enable WAN: Yes

Enable NAT: Yes

Enable UPnP: No

Get the WAN IP automatically: Yes

DNS Server: Default

Forward local domain queries to upstream DNS: No

Enable DNS Rebind protection: No

Prevent client auto DoH: Auto

โ€‹Username: (your PrivateVPN registered email address)

โ€‹Password: (your password)

PPP Authentication: Auto

Internet Detection: PPP Echo

PPP Echo Interval: 6

PPP Echo Max Failures: 10

โ€‹VPN Server: se-kis.pvdata.host

Click Apply button to connect.


Step 3

Verify your VPN connection via Network Map and take note of your WAN IP address.


Step 4

Open a new browser tab and then enter this URL: https://connect.pvdatanet.com/v3/Api/port?ip[]= (your WAN IP address)

Take note of the UDP/TCP Port.


Step 5

Return to WAN settings menu and then proceed to Virtual Server / Port Forwarding at the top tabs.

Enable Port Forwarding and then click on Add profile.


Step 6

Enter the following:

Service Name: (any name would do)

Protocol: BOTH

External Port: (port provided by Step 4 URL)

Internal Port: (same as External Port)

Internal IP Address: (your end device IP address)

Source IP: (leave it blank)

Click OK to apply settings.
