This guide explains how to exclude a specific website or web service from your OpenVPN GUI tunnel. This enables you to route traffic for selected websites or services outside the VPN connection while keeping the rest of your internet traffic protected through the VPN.
Step 1
Open Command Prompt.
Step 2
Enter: nslookup [URL of the website]
*we will use PrivateVPN.com website for this guide
Take note of the IPv4 addresses.
Step 3
Right-click OpenVPN GUI icon at the system tray and then select Edit Config.
Step 4
Enter the route command for each IPv4 addresses: route (website IP address) 255.255.255.255 net_gateway
Step 5
Click File menu and then choose Save.
Step 6
Reconnect OpenVPN GUI and then recheck the website.
